Highway 23 is also called the Pig Trail.
Going north from I-40 is a nice ride thru the Arkansas country side.
Run into a few switch backs as you enter the Ozark National Forest.
You can run into some slow traffic, road is twisty.
Stop at country store overlooking Mulberry River.
Once you cross Highway 16 the road is a little more less traveled and very scenic.
You can pick up the pace a little nice sweepers.
You get a little of everything on this ride. Worth the time.

The famous - or infamous - 'Pigpath'.
Miles of sweepers and switchbacks, passes through several 'quaint' communities, several nice views, but don't look unless you stop!
Include a stop at the Mulberry River Store for souvenirs and a rest stop.
Or maybe jump in the river for a while.
The store is also an outfitter. :o)
Adjacent to the awesome SR 21 for a return, or stop at Eureka Springs at the north end for a 'quaintness' overload.
Then, keep on north on 23 into Missouri for......?

I feel it is one of the most scenic routes in Arkansas, just beautiful.
Plenty of turnouts and good pavement.

Great riding.
Enjoyed the sharp switch back curves as well as the elevation changes.
Riding through the National Forest was very pretty and cool.
Went through there middle of June, 2007 in the morning from Mena to Eureka Springs.
Would recommend to anyone who enjoys riding.
Will do again next year with a group.
