  • This ride has it all! Scenic, sweepers, and twisty sections. more...
Start with the "Real" west in Wickenburg and a ride across the Sonora Desert. Then climb Yarnell Hill with sweepers and moderate twisty sections and more scenery than the eye can take in. Now, cross the plateau with more sweepers until you get to Wilhoit and the start of more twisties for the next 10 miles. Now ride through historic Prescott and its famous Whisky Row with saloons and restaurants. But be sure to continue on to the Granite Dells section. - James Sims (1/23/12)
  • This is actually an extension of the Vulture Mine Road that is already listed on the website. more...
Most riders pick this up at I-10 in Buckeye, west of Phoenix, starting North at 339th Ave, west on Indian School, and North on 355th Ave, or Vulture Mine Road. Only the last mile or two of Vulture Mine Road is twisty, the rest is just a nice desert scene and pretty flat and fast. From Vulture Mine Road in Wickenburg, follow Highway 60/93 Northwest to Highway 89 which leads you up the mountain through Congress, Yarnell, Peeple's Valley and finally into Prescott. The hill up to Yarnell is famous to most any motorcycle rider - it is 4 miles and 21 turns (going up) of fast, twisty excitement. After the twisties up the hill, the ride returns to scenery and small 40's era towns along what used to be the main route from the Old Capitol of AZ to Phoenix. At Kirkland Jct., just after Peeple's Valley, you are given the option of going left (Iron Springs Road, a scenic route) through Skull Valley or staying straight on Highway 89 through Wilhoit and over the White Spar Mountains into Prescott. 'The Spars' as the highway is called, is 13 miles of the twistiest twisties, rivaling California's Ortega Highway or 'The Snake' on Mulholland. Follow that route into Prescott and you have a very scenic and equally exciting ride from Phoenix to Prescott. - Ryan McIntyre (8/5/11)
  • Great views. A little straight at first, but becomes feisty toward Prescott. more...
Prescott is a great place for restaurants and bars too. - Rider from Texas (6/9/11)
  • From Wickenburg you take the Highway 60 to the 89 juction. more...
About 10 miles to Congress, and then a nice steep climb with switchbacks and then through the Tonto National Forest for some very nice turns. Prescott Brewing Company is a must when running this road. Great food, great staff and very comfortable and biker friendly. - Matt Wygle (3/7/09)
  • Good straight a-way out of Congress, AZ turns into nice sweeping curves on Yarnell Hill. more...
Views of the valley below. - Rider from Phoenix, AZ (4/9/08)
  • Solidly agree with the comment about the scenery trying to call your attention away from the road. more...
Marvelous windy drop into the valley from Prescott. I wish that the Arizona Dept of Transportation would provide some functional viewpoints so that one could take it in without having to focus on the road at the same time. The few turnouts that existed came upon you very suddenly and were not particularly welcoming to a motorcycle (small, gravel and rock, with no room for error). - Mark Caldwell (9/28/07)
  • I loved this road, from desert in Wickenburg to the mountains in Prescott, there are lots of challenging motorcycling. more...
A high concentration level is needed to negotiate curves while the scenery competes for your attention. "Look where you want to be" is easier said than done. - Doug DiGiuseppe (11/26/06)
  • This road is a true motorcyclist delight with scenic areas, sweeping turns, and twisty sections - something for everyone! more...
Out of Prescott, the first set of twisties starts and continues for 15 miles through the mountains southeast of Prescott. As you descend to Wilhoit, the road straightens out with mountain valley scenery and sweeping turns until you reach Yarnell. The road down Yarnell hill alternates sweeping and twisty turns with scenic views of the valley below - but you must concentrate on your ride. Finally, a straight run through the desert into Wickenburg. The ride back to Prescott may be even better! - Rider from Phoenix, Arizona (10/31/06)
