This an awesome strech of road. East of Twentynine Palms is 100 miles of pure open desert. Perfect for a peaceful quiet ride (except for your exhaust). The road for the most part is two lane black top. Traffic is minimal once you get east of Twentynine Palms. Make sure you top off there though, next gas station is 100 miles. Some dips as you get closer to the Arizona border. A few interesting roadside oddities. A tree full of shoes next to a fence full of underwear. One of my favorite roads to take when going from LA to Lake Havasu. - Armando B. Villa (2/18/12)
Be sure to check the weather cause if it is windy, you'll be picking sand out of your face for a week. But on the return you can go through Box Canyon. - Jeff (5/30/08)
