Rider Comments:
- "Nice run on the 'Great River Road'. Lots of 'backwoods' riding along the IL and MS Rivers. Wide sweeping turns, a few minor twisties and some great scenery. Stops of interest include Grafton and Fast Eddie's in Alton. There is a nice Roadhouse on the river in Kampsville where you can cross the IL river on the free ferry. The Kampsville to Alton section can get crowded on weekends and holidays." - Rider from Petersburg, IL (3/16/10)
- "This is an excellent road which can tie in with rides into Missouri. The bluffs and the river from Grafton to Alton are incredible." - Anonymous (1/2/08)
- "I start out in Granite City on Route 3. Make my way towards Alton and onto Route 100. Riding beside the Great Mississippi River for around 20 miles. The road is very wide and has a bicylcle trail next to it. Very long sweeping turns to start with and tight twisty turns as you get closer to the State Park. Chances are you will run into many other bikers and if you want to stop there are lots of things to do along the way. Many historic landmarks and lookout points. When you reach the park you can take the many roads through the park as it is, in my opinion, a shorter but better ride than the river road. There are a few look out spots in the park (way up in the bluffs) where you can overlook the entire river valley." - Kyle Schreiber, Ducati Riders of Illinois
