State Route 116 - Massachusetts
Rider Comments:
- "I toook 116 about 3 weeks ago and it was this road was in AWEFUL condition. We rode it from 8 to 8A (planned on going farther on 16, but wanted to get off ASAP), and the road was in pieces. The top layer of pavement was patchy at best. Probably 30% of the road was pot holes. The entire roads needs to be repaved. It might get better east of 8A, but I don't know. My opinion is to avoid this route." - Anonymous (6/23/08)
- "The pavement on this road is AWEFUL from Adams to Ashfield. Avoid that stretch at all costs. The signs on the side of the road even say "rough road". This road is very good from Ashfield to Amherst with lots of twisties. The road straightens out as you get about 10 miles away from Amherst." - Alex K. (6/18/08)
- "If you need practice turning, get on over to this stretch of two lane blacktop. With the exception of three small bridges which are under repair, the pavement is EXCELLENT--smooth, with banked curves and good signage. Lots of twisties, some passing zones, very good scenery, and limited services in Conway (about midway on this stretch). At the intersection with I-91, there is the Yankee Candle factory and museum, which is a popular tourist spot--this is where Yankee Candle Company got its start. Links up with SR 112 and US 5, which also make for nice riding. Riding this road reminds you why you bought a bike!!!" - Joseph Meyers (6/1/07)
