Rider Comments:

  • "Rode the entire length of the byway last weekend. All new pavement. Only one thing to be weary of, is the areas that were created for off road parking. They are loose stone based and when cars leave they drag some stone on the road. Other than that, it was fantastic." - R. Young (6/2/09)
  • "This road has been completely re worked and is all new blacktop from the visitor center at the south entrance to the top." - Berkshire Rider (3/30/09)
  • "Rode this route during a recent (6-26-06) trip to Massachusetts after seeing it mentioned on this site. From the south the road to the Visitor's Center is fine, beyond that the condition is fair to poor at best with many potholes and numerous bumps in the pavement. There are no lane markings so be ready to share the pavement with on coming traffic. Very little to see on the way up because of the forest canopy. Views from the summit were great. The Massachusetts Veterans Memorial at the summit is unique. Had a chance to talk to hikers that were working their way along the Appalachian Trail as it crosses this point. Continuing north the road condition inproves a little. Myself and two friends rode this on our Ultras. Taking our time it was passable but dont go expecting something like the Blue Ridge Parkway." - Anonymous Rider (7/5/06)
