- Bad Mitten - Macomb, MI (1/22/13)
Switchbacks, tree tunnels and fantastic pavement.
What a ride!

This is a ride best enjoyed when you are not in a hurry.
It is just plain fun - the scenary is beautiful.
Well marked for the curves - take the signs seriously.
Watch out for auto and bicycle traffic.
I mounted a video camera and got some outstanding footage.

Don't miss a stop at Legs Inn in Cross Village.
Authentic Polish cuisine (with a variety of other international favorites) with a spectacular view of Lake Michigan.
Even if you're not hungry, the building is really worth seeing.
Built by a Polish immigrant with an eye for nature's art.
Check it out here.

SR-119 is one of the premier motorcycling roads in the state of Michigan, but it's best travelled weekdays during the summer months, and better still as a fall color tour.
By fall, the canopy of leaves that covers the road turns to brilliant reds and gold, and traffic thins out to almost nothing.

This lane is known as the 'Tunnel of Trees' and follows the shoreline of Lake Michigan not far from the Mackinac Bridge.
The road is very narrow and has limited sight distances, frequent views of the lake and nature.
Many curves. Even a couple of hairpins - very rare in lower Michigan.
Would make an excellent fall color tour.
