Rider Comments:

  • "This was the last road I explored in the area and perhaps the best. This road begins a mile from were 129 meets 19 and is a good short-cut to Franklin, NC. There is lots of twistys folowing the turns of Nantahala Lake. Sparks were flying off my Streetbob. The views of the lake are awesome." - Rob DeLaney (7/25/11)
  • "Very twisty, but not as crowded as the 'Dragon'. Runs past Nantahala Lake and Dam. Makes a good side trip while visiting the 'Dragon'." - Tom Bailey (6/4/09)
  • "I think this road is also known as 1310." - Tony Howe (1/18/09)
  • "I have been reading about this road for some time. Checked it out last week. Great ride. Very scenic in some areas but I think you should list it under twisty. It is just a beautiful ride. I took another couple down. We rode this, Wolfpen Gap, Deal's Gap, and the Cherahola Skyway. Whatta great week!" - Dave Mytinger (9/9/07)
  • "I rode North to South, very enjoyable. Watch out for the gravel. Beautiful views of the lake and a waterfall. Not very many places to pull off and take it in, but excellent ride. Not much traffic on the weekends." - John Graham (7/10/06)
  • "Best riding south to north. Some gravel in some bends. This makes the 3rd part of the Deals Gap, Cherohala Skyway trilogy." - Paul Hall-Smith

Editor's Comments:

  • The Rider and DeLorme Street Atlas USA identifies this road as SR 1310. Google Maps and Microsoft Streets & Trips has it as SR 1442. The 2003 North Carolina State Transportation Map shows the road but does not identify it. AKA Wayah Bald Road.
