Rider Comments:
- "Last rode 209 on 9/29/2011 from Lake Junaluska at Highway 19 to Hot Springs in the afternoon as the second half of a great 352 mile day in the Smokeys. I have rode 209 many times and it never fails to please as it is one of those rides that has the perfect mix of twisties, sweepers, and straights. The road is generally in good shape with some cracks in the higher sections, nothing bad thoough. Be sure to stop at Trust for food as the price, portions and food are great. Great end at the Iron Horse or make the jump over 25/70 to Barbarosa Saloon for a true biker bar on the banks of the French Broad River is a don’t miss place." - Mikey, FLHR, Cedar Grove, NC (10/9/11)
- "Started south from Trust at the north end of Highway 63. Super fun road. As already mentioned, beautiful scenery through lots of mountainous farms. Want to go back and hit the other end going north from 63 to Hot Springs." - Todd Grafton (6/17/10)
- "IMO, just as good, if not better than the 'Dragon' or the 'Snake'. Little to no traffic. Great scenery, and a prize at the end. The Iron Horse in Hot Springs." - Mark Harrison (8/31/09)
- "Bikes were made for roads like this! It has everything - except heavy traffic. Twisties, sweepers, elevation changes, a couple of good valley straightaways, and great scenery. You could go back and forth over this road a few times, and finish off with a visit to the Hot Springs Spa to unkink your muscles. Connects with NC 212 and US 25/70 at the north end, also good routes. One of the best rides in a region full of them!" - Rider from Durham, North Carolina (6/26/07)
- "Road carries you over Betsy's Gap, the approach on both sides starts high-speed sweepers, tightening up nearer the top. Rural mountainous farmland views, the road connects to NC 63 at north end, which is incredible in either direction." - Rider from Asheville, North Carolina, TheSpeedTriple.com (4/30/07)
