Rider Comments:

  • "Getting through Morehead City can be painful at times due to traffic. Once you cross the bridge to Beaufort the ride gets much more relaxed.
After leaving Beaufort, there are a few sporadic communities and gas stations here and there. Mostly it's a nice country road with bridges and views of the water. I pulled over and got some nice pictures of the bike that I use as my laptop wallpaper. I don't remember too many places to eat but I admit that I was not really looking for them. Some big sweeping turns, a couple of sharper turns, but mostly just an open road and the smell of salt water. No wildlife spotted on this ride but I'm sure it's out there. Traffic wasn't a problem after leaving Beaufort, just a few cars from time to time.
If you want, on the way through Beaufort, ride down the waterfront on Front Street. Lots of pedestrian traffic but worth the extra time and you can find good restaurants there.
This ride is not going to win any awards but it is a good way to spend an afternoon. I went from New Bern almost to Hwy 12, then putted around the Beaufort waterfront and back to New Bern in about 3 hours on a warm Sunday afternoon." - Rider from Beaufort, NC (6/11/10)
