Rider Comments:
- "This is a road that only the locals know about, but it has a lot of GREAT things going for it.
Heading north out of Scottsbluff you start climbing huge hills.
There's hardly any traffic so you can twist that throttle.
Don't get too carried away though - no shoulders.
But the pavement is in excellent shape.
You'll roll through some beautiful west prairie farm and ranch land with outstanding views from the tops of the huge hills.
Nothing but cattle, deer and antelope out here to keep you company.
You'll start turning east and as you get all the way into that direction you'll be coming out of the hills into flatter farm country.
Watch for the intersection with State Route 2 where you need to turn north again.
Once you're headed that direction, it won't be long until you'll be back into the hills, only this time they're covered with pine trees that are part of the Nebraska State Forest.
Beautiful hill country riding that is very much like the Black Hills of South Dakota only a few miles north.
Be sure to be gassed up and have something to drink with you because there aren't any services between these two towns.
The Frontier Bar & Restaurant in Crawford is a good place to refuel your body at the end of this stretch.
If you're headed to the Black Hills from the south and west, this road is a great way to get there. No traffic, beautiful views, good pavement - what more could you ask for? Give it 2 thumbs, WAY UP!" - Rider from Cheyenne, WY (11/6/09) - Submit your on this road.
