Rider Comments:

  • Only did the Section from the Putnam Lake area up to about Millerton, but calling this section sweepers is generous at best. Almost all straight, with towns sprinkled in here and there. Still a good option if you want to head north without hitting the highway. - Darek G. (10/11/11)
  • I ride lower portions of Route 22 routinely; it’s a great way to head north out of central Westchester. There are sweepers and elevation changes on most sections in Westchester. BUT, the section from North White Plains up to Armonk has just been re-paved. This section is 4 lanes along the Kensico Reservoir with two traffic lights (the only intersections or driveways along the stretch). The scenery is great, though with the track-like nature of the road will keep you focused. - Jeff B., Chappaqua, NY (9/26/11)
  • Further north the better, IMHO. Traffic thins above Pawling. - 'Vmax Charlie' (3/10/09)
  • Some mountains and lots of little towns. - Rider from Ticonderoga, New York
