• Great road with gorgeous views including a waterfall right at the apex of a hairpin turn. This road has steep climbs heading west with occasional second westbound lane for passing. If you ride this going east, you'll probably smell the burning brakes from the cage in front of you and there is no place to pass. - Rider from Gardiner, NY (2/20/10)
• Watch out for the cops once you get on the mountain top - the stretch from Haimes Falls through Hunter especially. Lived there for ten years and police are everpresent. Overall a super beautiful ride. - Anonymous (5/8/09)
• I just did this ride 8/08 and it was fantastic. The road is in great shape and the scenic views were fabulous. As someone warned before, be careful coming down the mountain near Kaaterskill Falls, too many cars on the side of the road and oblivious pedestrians trying to look at the falls while crossing the road. - John Griffin, Long Island, NY (8/24/08)
• The washed-out section of road re-opened -- at last! -- on November 22, 2006. State D.O.T. officials say there will be further re-construction in the spring of '07, but not to expect a repeat of this year's painfully long closure. I live in the area and heartily endorse this ride. It's a beauty. Just watch out for the oblivious pedestrians and cage-drivers around Kaaterskill Falls (between the hamlets of Haines Falls and Palenville), especially in the summer and on the weekends. - Rider from Tannersville, New York (11/25/06)

• Mud slides in June, 2006 caused part of the road near Kaaterskill Falls to wash out. Repairs are expected to go into winter 2006. - Anonymous
