Rider Comments:
- "I rode this route last week, (7/27/2010) and found it to be in great shape and with minimal gravel in the turns and near perfect pavement. This route runs through a National Forest which is why I love it so much. I don't remember any other traffic on the road with me the entire distance." - 'Bigfoot' (8/3/10)
- "Incredible road! They have completed the paving with all lines and markers in place. Absolutely smooth as silk with great grip. Ran it from just outside Woodsfield all the way down to Route 7 at the WV state line. Has many tight corners similar to Route 536, but also many sweepers and S curves. There are several areas where the road lays out in front of you and you can clearly see the undulations and proper line to take. Sign markings are excellent, alerting you to blind corners, and where reduced speeds are needed. I was never surprised by any corner. Some parts of the road are perched right on a narrow ridge, allowing an incredible view into the valley on both sides (although you can only afford a very quick look!). Ran this road 4 times yesterday, a beautiful Sunday summer day, and only encountered one car in front of us the entire day. This is definitely an “E” ticket ride. Chow note: we used Woodsfield as our 'home base' as there are 3 good roads leaving from it. The Hometown Restaurant in the center of town has some great food." - Jeff J. (8/10/09)
- "I decided to give 255 a try today. Aside from the usual spring Southern Ohio gravel and sand, it was a very good ride. The southern end of the road is narrow and very twisty, I'd give the pavement a "C". For fairly fresh asphault they didn't do a great job. There is a groove/ridge that runs along the center line that you don't want to hit. The route is very twisty and scenic. I like this road but they could have done a better job paving it. I'm not trying to scare anyone off of it. I'll probably make several passes up and down this road. Ride it with care until you know what lies around the next turn. There are some great series of turns on this route. I took it extra easy this run because I haven't been on this road for a couple of years. Next time I'll be letting some sparks fly." - 'NomadRider' (4/6/09)
- "I rode this road two days ago (July 8,2008). This road is CURRENTLY a terrible road to ride on. The whole road is being worked on; installing drain pipes for water run off. There's gravel and dirt everywhere. The asphalt surface is pitted, potholed, and patched and needs a total resurface. Once this is done, I'm sure this will be a fun segment of road. I'm lucky I was on my GS bike." - Anonymous (7/10/08)
