One of the best motorcycle roads in Oregon.
Wonderful scenery, little traffic.
Unfortunately, the road is sometimes in poor condition (holes), so the lower part of the South to the North with caution.
Stay tuned for cattle on the track!
Occasionally, you might encounter cops!

I just rode this on 9/21/09.
It is a great road even for my '07 Goldwing.
It has some potholes, but few and far between.
Very little traffic and lots of twisty curves.
Great scenery and I can't wait to ride it again with friends.
I stopped for 15 minutes to take in the surroundings and no cars in either direction passed me.
Stay out of the middle.
Some oncoming cars did take more than they should on some curves.

National Forest Road 39 is part of the National Scenic Byway road system that includes the Hells Canyon scenic road systems.
The National Forest road is not maintained to the level of the state roads, but well worth the time to go ride it.
It is a medium speed road with switch backs posted between 15 and 45 mph.
It is a wonderful road and worth a trip just to ride it.
Look at the National Scenic Byway and the Hells Canyon Scenic Road system that sums up to a loop of 242 miles.
Way nice.

Add this road to your 'must do' ride list!!
Absolutely a beautiful ride not to be missed.

Hands down the best sportbike road I have been on in Oregon.
It's a seasonal mountain road with insane corners, tire shredding pavement, world class views, and very light traffic.
