Rider Comments:

  • "Wanna see a quick glimpse of Palo Duro Canyon as you're heading down the super-boring US 287 from Amarillo to points southward? Then try this short FM road. It's about halfway between Claude and Clarendon, and is only about 4 miles. The pavement ends at a county road, and from the end of the pavement, you can see one viewpoint of Palo Duro Canyon. If you take a "right" on the gravel county road, which is actually pretty smooth, and go a very short distance, less than a half mile, there are a couple of places where the ground opens up and you see the Canyon beyond as well. I thought it was kind of neat to know that the canyon was this close to 287. You would never know it!" - Rider from Arlington, TX (7/26/10)
