Took 455 East from 2164 today. Road was in great shape...until you get past 289...then watch out!
The road has lots of nice twisties but the condition today required a super reduced speed.
My front tire was kicked out by one of the endless grooves on the first nice looking twisty and I almost went down.
Inspecting the others as I approached revealed the same condition all the way to Anna.
So the ride was less than spectacular.
I opted for a more southerly route back home to Denton, so the fun to be had was speeeeeed along 380.
Not much of a fun road, but it was smoooooth.
If they could just get rid of those dang stop lights.

Section from Slidell to St. Jo under construction with lots of gravel patches, as of 5/14/13.

Enjoyed the section from Preston Road to I-75.
Watch for some gravel that can be kicked up from the side roads but mostly clean and well paved.

I have ridden sections of this road, but today I took the entire course.
I have ridden in many states and I keep hoping there will be something of value locally.
For Texas this was an acceptable run but it is really sad when people say this is one of the top 10 in Texas.
I guess I need to give up on finding roads within Texas.

We ride this road every weekend, between Celina and Pilot Point.
The roads have been repaired and makes for a smooth ride.

The good part of this road is west of I-35 between Sanger and Montague.
East from I-35 to US 75 not is not as good as it used to be.

Please be careful on this road.
A good rider and great friend to many people lost his life December 8 2007. R.I.P. Terence...

This used to be one of my favorite rides.
I took it again yesterday and was really disappointed.
As you head west from Anna, the road surface is a mess in many places.
The twisties used to be fun, but this time I found myself worrying that the surface was going to come apart underneath me if I pushed too hard through the corners.
If you're OK going slow, this is still fine, but if want to push yourself a little, I'd stay away until this gets resurfaced.

I took this road Saturday from Anna to Celina, and quickly grew tired of getting beat up.
This is one of the worst roads I have ever ridden because the road is in such rough shape.
The scenery is nice but if you want to ride some twisties this is not the road to take.

The section running east from Sanger to Anna is also fun.
Nice curves just past Lake Ray Roberts.
FM 455 has been ranked by Ride Texas magazine as a top 10 motorcycle road in Texas.

I rode 455 this weekend and it was an outstanding ride.
I didn't see any cars for a huge chunk of the trip between Celina and Pilot Point.
Most of the riding surface is outstanding, few cars, very nice scenery, lots of curves...a great country ride.

Some parts of the road are a bit under par as far as asphalt.
Local bikers on this one often. Great sweeping turns and twisties.
Nice lake scenery also. Take FM 455 from Sanger all the way to 69-697 N to Sherman.
A gem for someone in my area!
