Rider Comments:

  • "I often enjoy VA-43 from Alta Vista, VA to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It starts off scenic with a nice country road rolling along the river, then it veers off through some pretty country side. Good twisty sections, with pleasant back roads in between. One word of caution, this is a major route to Smith Mountain Lake. Expect gravel on the inside of every turn. A noteworthy detour (along VA-43) is the D-Day memorial in Bedford VA. Good food to be had at "the Station" in Bedford, or keep heading up to Peaks of Otter." - Frank P., Raleigh, NC (8/26/08)
  • "While this road is really very technical, the downside makes it unsafe. There are alot of blind entrances. If the road is wet at all, it becomes very slick. There are too many other roads in the area that will provide as much fun without the unsafe aspects of this one." - Anonymous (6/16/08)
