This is one beautiful 'motorsickle road'.
It parallels 1-81 through the Shenandoah Valley as it eases along on the northwestern side of the mountains.
Rolling hills, scenic farmlands and mountain views abound.
Stop for lunch in Hot Springs or Monterey, VA and then head south on Route 33 across the mountain to Harrisonburg, VA.

Route 220 south to north features an Allegheny mountain pass with glass smooth pavement, and perfectly banked twisties followed by beautiful countryside and sweeping turns, into the Hot Springs resort area and great looking golf courses.
Don't miss this road!

This is a very good ride...and the 40 to 50 miles North of Monterey on Route 220 is even better.
That stretch is a 45-60 mph flat, smooth turns, nice road in a neat little valley that gets pretty narrow at times, and follows a river almost the whole way.
The Highland Inn in Monterey is a great old refurbished hotel that is wonderful, and relatively inexpensive...and they have a truly wonderful menu to choose from.
I plan to go again!
