Rider Comments:

  • The ride I wish I was always on! I live ten minutes from the base of the notch and have spent entire days riding up one side and down the other - repeat! A must visit. - Isaac B. (9/7/11)
  • This is a MUST ride road, the highlight of our Vermont tour. Smugglers Notch is un-believable, one lane tight with views straight up ,winding thru boulders as big as a room. Plenty of places to pull off and take in the magnitude of this unique place. - Butch, Menace and Adirondack (8/17/09)
  • One of the best roads in VT!! Nice tight turns in the Notch. Wild views in the Notch of Mt Mansfield and Sterling Mt. Take your time as the cars & trucks will have issues driving around the boulders (blind corners). - Rider from Schenectady, NY (9/5/08)
  • Set in the Northwest Kingdom of Vermont, sparsely populated with smooth roads. Route 108 cuts through beautiful Vermont farmland with barely a trace of traffic. From 108 take 105 and head into Newport, VT on Lake Memphremagog. You will not be disappointed. - John Falcone (2/4/08)
  • I’m lucky enough to live just a half dozen miles from this road. I absolutely love it, but use care during tourist events as 'cagers' are so caught up in the scenery, they are often inattentive. Where the double yellow line stops your ability to maneuver out of the way becomes limited. - Rider from Stowe, Vermont (9/2/07)
  • Awesome road, especially going down the section of tight turns. The corkscrew turns reminded us of the Pigtails in the Black Hills of South Dakota. - Kells, Nottingham, New Hampshire (7/9/07)
  • This is a short route that is in a gap with an altitude that is about 2200 feet between 2 steep mountains. There is about a 2 mile gap where it is so narrow only one car can get through at a time with rock faces on each side. - Rider from Crenshaw, Mississippi
