Rider Comments:

  • "Just ran this route 8/13/2011 going southbound from Randal and the road condition is good, not great, but good. Overall one of the best roads I have been on. Good twisty’s well marked. Beware of the one lane bridge over the washout, the road planks are loose and you could spill easily. As the previous person said going northbound the road is VERY rough." - Anonymous (8/15/11)
  • "I rode this route for the first time on 7-25-10. Most of the trip was very nice with great views but I would love to have seen the post I am writing for you ahead of time! There is a stretch from the Windy Ridge Junction to Randle that is the roughest road I have taken a motorcycle on. The section is marked with signs indicating a rough road. Believe them! The worst is the North bound lane as it is on the downhill side of the road and the hill side is sluffing down. It is causing some major holes in the road. The shadows make it very hard to see some of these spots. Be very careful. There is also a section of road washed out completely and a temporary one lane bridge is in place. When construction starts there will be delays." - Anonymous (7/28/10)
  • "A bikers dream road. Very sharp turns and 'S' curves. Really tight twists. You gotta have your wits about you on this road. Two lane paved road, narrow in places with steep dropoffs. Construction going on in September/October 2007, due to 2006 storm washouts. Well signed. Clearwater View Point for views of Mount St Helens, or ride up to the Windy Ridge View Point. No services along this road. Several Forest Service camp grounds. Fantastic road for honing your riding skills." - Dick Yates (11/29/07)
