• "I have ridden this road with a friend of mine twice. This past weekend (10.11.08) I took my M109R for a solo run. The road was in great shape. Some sections repaved. VERY LITTLE gravel on road from the cars. Even on the hair pins. I rode it going east and west...EAST IS WAY MORE FUN. The locals suggested not to ride in morning or early evening, bears have been seen. Also some morning moisture might still be on road. • "What an amazing ride! We took US Route 50 from Clarksburg to Keyser. As of 7/28/08 there was a slight detour very close to Clarksburg, but it was not hard to follow. The ride has many twisties and hairpin turns. Beware of the speed limit...you really cannot go 55. • "US 50 from Winchester, VA to Grafton, WV is a great road for the twisties. Everything from sweepers to hairpins. I rode US 50 on a 2006 Triumph Sprint ST fully packed for my trip to Ohio and had a blast! There was very little traffic and enough places to pass if you got stuck behind slower moving traffic. • "Grafton to Winchester, Va is one incredible fun ride! All of us in our group of six were laughing out loud like kids on their favorite amusement park ride. There are so many turns and twists that sometimes you think the bike in front of you is launching skyward! Watch when you cross the border into Maryland. Their Troopers love to sit on the first long straight away you will experience since leaving Grafton and they hide out on the North side of the road. It was hard to eat that night as our faces were all cramped up from the permanent smiles on our faces. If there is a better road for riding please tell me! • Clarksburg to Winchester, Virginia. "I'm a native of Clarksburg and I've lived outside of Philadelphia for 23 years. I've never been on Rt. 50 east of Grafton. I decided to take that route on my Honda Valkryie in early October... Fantastic ride. It only added 25 miles to my trip, but it added 2 hours in drive time. • Grafton to Keyser. "I've been 4 years on a 250 Honda Rebel and 4 months on my Harley 1200 Sportster... had I been on the Rebel, my confidence would of been much higher. Not just 1 but TWO sets of hairpin turns... why they mark the speed limit signs at 55MPH is beyond me, every 1/2 mile one must slow down to 35 to hit that curve. WOW!! Fun? ...depends on your skill level. Took us 3 hours to go the 98 miles from Grafton to Keyser." - Lillian Saum (8/1/06)
• "US 50 is a great road. The section from Parkersburg to Clarksburg is four lane. Not that interesting. The section from Grafton to Romney I have ridden several times. It is worth several trips. Sweeping turns with sections that are very twisty. Hopefully the state will be re-paving the twisty sections in the near future if not this year (2006). Lot's of wear and tear on the most twisty sections. Great ride; watch out of surprises. I see a lot of street bikes, touring bikes, and cruisers out enjoying this road. Worth your time.
